The Beauties of Coconut Oil

My skin and hair are a mess right now. They are dry and lacking their normal luster. I am pretty sure it is from our visit to the cold weather a few weeks ago. Today I had the day off, so I treated myself to some beauty treatments.

One of my favorite beauty treatment ingredients is Coconut Oil. It is cheap, lightweight, and easy to find. How easy? Well just check out your local grocery store.

My Go-To Coconut Oil Beauty Treatments

1)I Feel and Flourish’s DIY exfoliater. I made a batch using Coconut Oil and brown sugar. Making one batch? Use 2 tablespoons of both ingredients, mix, and  apply in the shower.

This exfoliator is great. It is super easy to make and leaves skin feeling soft. Try not to get water in it, as the sugar will begin to melt.

2)My hair is super dry. So before I  shampoo I moisturize using a Coconut Oil/Tea Tree Oil mixture. Melt 2 tablespoons of  the oil in the microwave for about 25 seconds and then add 4-5 drops of the Tea Tree Oil. Rub it into your scalp and then toward the ends of your hair. I put a plastic bag over my hair to create some heat. I generally leave it on my hair for 30 minutes. Jump in the shower and wash you hair as usual.

The The Indian Spot says this mixture is also a great overnight face mask. I have yet to try this, but I may later this week.

Here are some other Coconut Oil recipes I would like to try:

Coconut Oil Eye Cream

Coffee Scrub Mask
Eye Makeup Remover
