Weekend Hooker

I am sorry knitting. I still love you with all of my heart. However, there is something about crochet that has me “hooked.” Maybe it is the instant gratification of quick projects or maybe the novelty of a new way to create with yarn. In any case, I will admit it to all…I have the crochet bug!

My new crochet habit made its debut in public this weekend.  On Sunday,  we went to a Shakespeare in the Park event where we saw Taming of the Shrew. It was the perfect day. It was sunny and hot and we got to lounge in the park with some white wine and a great performance.

Currently, I am working on a baby blanket for a college friend. I am making a “Baby Burrito” blanket using a simple pattern of double crochet stitches in the round with a size J hook. What is a “Baby Burrito” blanket you might ask? It is a blanket that look like a tortilla (large circle) and is meant to swaddle the baby very similar to rolling up a burrito.

I found this great variegated yarn from Caron Simply Soft that I am intermixing with “Soft Pink.”  Simply Soft is an excellent budget yarn choice for baby items. It is soft, had a great sheen, and comes in a variety of colors. Hopefully the new baby will like it.
